Since there is no official festival summer this year because of certain harmful things in the air, we decided to continue our release schedule throughout the summer.

For this highly anticipated release, Sem Cappaert is back for his 2nd, follow up EP for the label. And with this our golden boy proves that he evolved from a newcomer to a genre defining artist.

The opening track for this EP ‘Ravers In The Nation’ really sets the bar quite high. If you’re tired of hearing the Amen break being used for the zillionth time, check again. Sem is able to make it sound fresh, gritty, and even a tad childish. The whole track sounds a bit like a masterclass from ‘The Prodigy’, with sugar on top. Quality.

Following that is ‘Asynchronous Motor’, a typical Sematics track, with pulsating engines propelling a ceaseless rampage of programmed automation. Quite familiar to his first Axon EP, but matured and all grown up like he’s never stopped working it.

Then we have False Identity, the title track… What can we say? If you have ever visited Belgium’s clubscene somewhere in the 90’ies, this track is a beauty of an hommage to the time that’s past, but not forgotten. Competing for ‘melody of the year’, this is a peak time burner.

Signing off seems a bit tricky here, however ‘Moddard Ground Control’ fits the bill perfectly. Like a hovering vehicle preparing to land, this eerie, sub-zero, stripped down tune freezes Sematics back in carbonite, until his power is ready to be unleashed again.

In all honesty, Sematics is definately one of Belgium’s finest, most underrated producers. We’re honoured & blessed to have him here with usl & we hope you enjoy his message…
